I Have a house cleaning business and I would like to know where to buy the best steam vapor for a reasonable price. I would like to start using steam cleaning as one of my selling points. I would like the kind that would also clean carpet.

musty smell and it wont go away. I have steam cleaned the carpets twice. Once with my steam cleaner and the second time with a commercial one. I am making sure that all the water is sucked up and the fan blows constantly until the carpets dry. I am at my wits end with the smell and i need some help. I have tried the carpet crystals and they just masked the odors for like 15 minutes. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Advantages/Disadvantages of professional carpet cleaning vs rug – doctor?

Posted on September 5th, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 2 Comments »

Hello:

We just bought a house and wanted the carpet/steam cleaning professionally. It has carpet in the living, dining, 4 bedrooms, 1 family room areas and the quotes we got are anywhere from 0 – 0. The carpet is 10 years old, isn’t bad at all and has no major stains but just regular wear and tear of 10 years. We are thinking about replacing the carpet in the living room, dining areas with hardwood in 3-6 months time period. Since the cleaning is so expensive we also thought about renting a rug doctor to do the cleaning ourselves. But we are not sure what the rug doctor can’t do that the professional cleaners can. We need some advice on how to proceed? Do we go ahead and shell out the 500$ or just rent a rug doctor for about 50$ and do it ourselves. What are the major disadvantages with rugdoctor? What do you all suggest?

Carbon monoxide and carpet cleaning?

Posted on September 5th, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 1 Comment »

I had my carpet steam cleaned today. The smell of the cleaning product was quite strong. About an hour or so after the guy left, my carbon monoxide alarm sounded. No one has any symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning. I’ve vented the house and the alarm no longer sounds.

Does anyone know whether the carpet cleaning product could have caused a false alarm?
