How hot is the steam from a Bissell Steam Shot Hard Surface Cleaner?

Posted on October 19th, 2010 in Bissell Steam Cleaner | 2 Comments »

Really would like a rough or exact temperature. I need to be able to kill bed bugs / eggs on contact. Help me out! I am moving out of my apartment because my building is infested and i was bitten multiple times the other day. but i want to make sure i dont bring any bugs with me to my new place!

steam apparently does the job but i dont want to spend to much money on a steam cleaner and this bissell is around 60 bucks but is it hot enough to do the job?

Can a landlord in RI use your security deposit for steam cleaning and painting?

Posted on August 22nd, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 4 Comments »

NOTE: There is nothing in the lease that says we must steam the carpets (or repaint the walls) before moving out or have the expense taken out of our security deposit. The carpets and paint are in the same condition as before we moved in.

Landlords are probably required by law to repaint and clean carpets between tenants, but we were not told *we* would be paying for it.
If I was a landlord I would always count on steam cleaning the carpet and repainting. As a tentant, I will not count on it. I’ve rented many an apartment before and always received my security deposit back (and the landlord repainted etc). I’m going to be in minor claims court for this one definitely.

Questions about Bissell Quicksteamer Plus? Or any carpet steamer, for that matter?

Posted on June 22nd, 2010 in Bissell Steam Cleaner | 1 Comment »

If you were to use it on a linoleum kitchen floor, WITHOUT the bare floor tool… what would happen?

Also, are cleaning solutions absolutely necessary? I only ask because I saw that Shark Steamcleaner on TV, and they don’t use any solutions at all because the steam is hot enough to kill germs AND loosen dirt.
I was curious about the need for cleaning solutions on both carpet and bare floors. I mean these apartment carpets are just plain dirty… I would hope that the steam would just freshen them up a bit? At least until I have some time to get some cleanser.

And it is definitely quicker to use a mop on the linoleum.. however it seems that no matter how much I mop, the dirt never comes all the way up. Who knows how long it went without mopping before I moved in just a few months ago, so I am thinking that a steam clean would be more efficient.

Carpet cleaners – rent or buy? which is better quality wise?

Posted on June 15th, 2010 in Bissell Steam Cleaner | 5 Comments »

My cat had an allergic reaction to a stain remover I used on my carpet, so the vet recommended that I steam clean the carpet to get rid of the allergen. Debating on whether it would be more beneficial to rent a Rug Doctor or buy a steam cleaner like a Bissell Proheat? In your opinion which works better? I figure I could probably justify buying one if I use it at least 5 times (would equal the cost of rental or thereabouts). Also, how loud is the Rug Doctor vs. one you can buy. I live in an apartment complex, I don’t want to be too noisy!

Thanks

What should I do about my steam-cleaning problem?

Posted on May 29th, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 1 Comment »

I just steam cleaned two rooms in my apartment. When finished, I went to empty the dirty water (bottom "bladder" compartment) to discover that there was none at all… it must have either gone onto the carpet or mixed with the soapy water compartment on top.

Either way, I’m not sure where it went, WHY, or what to do and I’m very uncomfortable right now thinking about potentially having made my carpet dirtier! PLease, please help me– any advice at all welcomed!!!!

I was at a different apartment so i dont know, maybe the carpet at this one sucks…i have two kids and my carpet was so digusting! When i cleaned out the water, it was dark and brown so i know it did clean, but i just wanna know iwhy its leaving that fuzz behind. I also think the other one i used did a better job. If anyone has had this experience, let me know please. I called Bissell and the lady didnt help very much…

Can asthma be irritated while vacuuming or steam cleaning a carpet?

Posted on April 20th, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 3 Comments »

I almost had my asthma under control before I decided to vacuum/steam clean my carpets. If it gets too hot and stuffy in the apartment it does wake me up and I have to sleep with a fan on. Any thoughts would be sincerely appreciated.

What are the disadvantages of using a steam cleaner on my bed matress?

Posted on March 29th, 2010 in Buy Steam Cleaner | 2 Comments »

I’m subletting my furnished apartment and would like to steam clean my mattress when I return.

I figured I would rent a steam cleaner from my local grocery store to deep clean my mattress. However, I read that this can cause mold. Is this true? What the best way to clean the matress/get rid of the subtenant’s body odour?

Thanks!
