I dont want to pay alot of money for store bought cleaners because I have a few larger areas to clean, is there some type of household cleaner or item i can use with the water in its place? I have a bissell steam cleaner. I do NOT want to spot treat the carpet just want something that will collectively clean the entire carpet and life dirt.

I have carpet in the living room, it’s not a big room, average size. I have a BISSELL steam cleaner, the one with the bristles, and I can empty the tank 5 times and keep going over the room and it still comes up dirty (the water) Is this normal? It’s not possible to clean it until the water comes up clean is it? This carpet is probably old, we moved in a year ago so I am not sure how old it is.

I have a Bissell steam cleaner and use quality carpet shampoo. I also pre-treat. It looks clean right after shampooing, but within a week or so, it looks worse and worse! I have Dupont Stainmaster carpet – top of the line stuff.

I still have Rug Doctor cleaning stuff left over from cleaning my carpets last spring. I’m not renting a Rug Doctor this year since I have an awesome coworker allowing me to borrow her Bissell steam cleaner. Can I use the Rug Doctor stuff in the Bissell or must I buy special stuff made by Bissell?
(Yeah, I’m a bit behind on spring cleaning this year. LOL.)
