I bought a house and decided to steam clean the carpets and i seemed to stir up a mildewy, cat urine……?

Posted on September 8th, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 7 Comments »

musty smell and it wont go away. I have steam cleaned the carpets twice. Once with my steam cleaner and the second time with a commercial one. I am making sure that all the water is sucked up and the fan blows constantly until the carpets dry. I am at my wits end with the smell and i need some help. I have tried the carpet crystals and they just masked the odors for like 15 minutes. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased a secondhand white couch. What is the best method of cleaning?

Posted on September 1st, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 1 Comment »

I have used a bissel carpet cleaner with some Purple Power and it has lifted some of the dirt. The slip covers for the cushions have been put through the washer and are much whiter than the rest of the couch. I really just want the couch color to be as close to the color of the cushions as possible. Would a steam cleaner work better? Thanks.

Need help, steam cleaned carpeting and it is so sticky?

Posted on August 31st, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 4 Comments »

My kids seem to not listen when running around the house without shoes on and also with their socks on. They seem to either run bare foot or track mud all over the place. Well I steam cleaned my carpeting with my Bissell and followed the manufacturers recommendations on how much solution to put in my steam cleaner. Well now the carpeting is sticky and if anyone runs through the house it automatically shows the dirt. It looks horrible and I want a clean carpet, not one that smells like feet and old socks.

Question about carpet cleaning and deoderizing?

Posted on August 29th, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 6 Comments »

We just steamed cleaned our carpeting (with a rented steam cleaner) and while we are waiting for it to dry – it really has a bad odor all throught the house!!!! We have been doing this yearly for the past 15 years and have never had this problem….Any suggestions or thoughts about what happened? Or advise on a product I can buy that will neutralize the odor in the carpet?

Can a landlord in RI use your security deposit for steam cleaning and painting?

Posted on August 22nd, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 4 Comments »

NOTE: There is nothing in the lease that says we must steam the carpets (or repaint the walls) before moving out or have the expense taken out of our security deposit. The carpets and paint are in the same condition as before we moved in.

Landlords are probably required by law to repaint and clean carpets between tenants, but we were not told *we* would be paying for it.
If I was a landlord I would always count on steam cleaning the carpet and repainting. As a tentant, I will not count on it. I’ve rented many an apartment before and always received my security deposit back (and the landlord repainted etc). I’m going to be in minor claims court for this one definitely.

Posted on August 18th, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 4 Comments »

I got a rug doctor steam cleaner to clean my carpet & there is an anti-foam solution that’s pretty expensive. The cleaning product I have started to foam up (a generic brand)…Is there a solution I can make myself instead of buying the overpriced product from the store?
