I purchased a secondhand white couch. What is the best method of cleaning?

Posted on September 1st, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 1 Comment »

I have used a bissel carpet cleaner with some Purple Power and it has lifted some of the dirt. The slip covers for the cushions have been put through the washer and are much whiter than the rest of the couch. I really just want the couch color to be as close to the color of the cushions as possible. Would a steam cleaner work better? Thanks.

Would using an iron be an economical and effective way to steam clean a couch?

I dunno how hot an iron can get, but i was thinking of "ironing" my couch to kill bacteria, etc.

I’m a college student, so I’m not really in a place to invest in a steam cleaner.

Ironing couch effective, yay or nay?

How can I get toothpaste out of a couch that is not able to be steam cleaned?

Posted on July 31st, 2010 in Steam Cleaning | 1 Comment »

My couch cannot be steam cleaned or use any cleaner on it that I am aware of. My 9 month old threw up her formula on it and my 4 yr old wiped toothpaste that was on his face on it and now it looks horrible. What is a good way to get these off of a hunter green couch?
well it is pretty much a brand new couch.

How often should furniture be steam cleaned?

A "friend" of mine said recently that he steam cleans his couch and chair every six months. To me that seemed excessive. I don’t even steam clean mine but occasionally I’ll vacuum them.

What is the proper way to keep the furniture clean?

Anyone know if this works? The Fred Meyers near my house sells the formula for the steam cleaners the rent out, we’re going to go try it tomorrow, but I was curious as to see if anyone else had any luck with it? I hear steam cleaning doesnt work, but i also read that with special made steam cleaner urine remover solutions it does..Cleaning this couch is tricky because the cushions are NOT removable…So this is like..the only option..

Can I use a steam cleaner on a microfiber couch?

I’m renting a steam cleaner for my carpet (the kind you rent from the grocery store) and I wanted to know if I could use it on my couch too. There are some spots that I think could be removed with a steam cleaner, but I don’t want to ruin my couch…
