Just recently bought a home that is 11 years old. I bought a bissell sweep/mop steam cleaner and began steam cleaning the floors. After 2 or 3 cleanings I noticed a film on my floors. I am assuming this is cleaning solutions/oils that have built up over the years. Should I continue stem cleaning until I have cleaned all of this up or should I stop. If I should stop is there a way to clear up this film?

I have a Bissell ProHeat 2x that I bought yesterday. I live in a brand new townhome, built in August. The minute I turn the steam cleaner on it trips the breaker for the entire room. There is NOTHING else plugged in, no lights turned on or anything in there. Do I have to return it or is there another way to keep the power from overloading the circuit?
No it’s not in a GFI outlet. I tried every outlet around the room(its the spare bedroom. Theres not even a tv in there) its empty. Every single time i switched the power on the cleaner the entire room loses power.
Thanks guys! I think its the cleaner. I had another Bissell in this house, it just wasn’t what I needed but I never had anything like this happen with that steam cleaner. I tried this new one in every room, all the breakers were tripped. Guess I’ll be going back to where I got it : / I am disappointed though, I’m a clean freak and was VERY excited to clean my carpets haha

musty smell and it wont go away. I have steam cleaned the carpets twice. Once with my steam cleaner and the second time with a commercial one. I am making sure that all the water is sucked up and the fan blows constantly until the carpets dry. I am at my wits end with the smell and i need some help. I have tried the carpet crystals and they just masked the odors for like 15 minutes. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I do it myself? What kind of steam cleaner do I rent or buy if that is the case, and where can I get it?
If I have someone else do it, should I try detail shops first?
I’d like to add that just because I’m a woman doesn’t mean I don’t know what I’m doing.
I have put some moderately advanced modifications on my car as well as fixed some issues my car had.

My kids seem to not listen when running around the house without shoes on and also with their socks on. They seem to either run bare foot or track mud all over the place. Well I steam cleaned my carpeting with my Bissell and followed the manufacturers recommendations on how much solution to put in my steam cleaner. Well now the carpeting is sticky and if anyone runs through the house it automatically shows the dirt. It looks horrible and I want a clean carpet, not one that smells like feet and old socks.

Has anyone ever tried a small steam cleaner, you know the kind for around the house, bathrooms, kitchens, ect? I have three boys, so the bathrooms are a little difficult and I have been thinking about trying one of those little steam cleaners. Has anyone had good results, or one they would recommend?
